"Subscription was way harder to manage than it should be"
I don’t think I’m being too picky here, but managing my Cambly subscription was more confusing than it needed to be. I was just trying to change or cancel something, and I had to click around a lot without really feeling sure it actually went through. Since it’s something I’m paying for every month, I feel like it should be straightforward and easy to understand. Maybe I missed something, but the whole process felt unclear and frustrating.

I’ve had some good lessons on cambly and there are definitely tutors I like, but the progress tracking feels limited. After taking quite a few classes, I still don’t have a clear idea of what I’ve actually improved on or what I should be working on next.

i think a lot of other students probably feel the same way. It mostly feels like a lesson history instead of real progress tracking. For the price, it would be nice to have clearer feedback, goals, or even simple reports so we’re not just booking lessons and hoping we’re getting better...

"Easy to get started and a nice first lesson"
I tried a trial lesson and it was easy to jump into, the tutor was friendly and made me feel comfortable right away and helped me through the parts I wasn’t sure about so it was a nice first experience overall.

"Refund came through fast"
Had a billing issue. Kind of annoying at first, but support sorted it out quickly. Refund showed up sooner than I expected too. no real stress in the end.

I use Cambly a few times a week, the video works well most days and the audio is usually clear too. I’ve only had a few small lags here and there. It’s not perfect, but it’s reliable enough for my lessons

I’ve been impressed because I haven’t had to sit around waiting. The tutors usually join right on time, which makes the whole thing feel a lot less stressful. That’s kind of what you’d hope for with online tutoring, right?

"Helped me feel less nervous speaking"
I started using cambly because I always got so nervous speaking English even when I knew the words. After a few lessons I started feeling more relaxed and now I can talk without pausing so much. Some tutors are definitely better than others so you have to try a few until you find someone you like. Overall it really helped my confidence with speaking.

I wasn’t totally sure how useful cambly would be at first, but being able to talk with tutors from places like the US, UK, Canada, and other regions has been helpful. It feels more like real English instead of just textbook English. Some accents were hard to understand in the beginning, but I guess that’s kind of the point. Overall, it’s been useful for listening practice.

"A mix of helpful and repeated lessons"
I’ve been going through the lessons here and there, usually in the evenings after work when I’m trying to do something a little productive instead of just scrolling on my phone. Some of them are genuinely useful and I’ve picked up a few good tips, but a handful feel kind of repetitive, like I’m hearing the same point explained again in a slightly different way. Overall it’s not bad, just a bit uneven depending on the lesson.

"Good idea, but the app needs work"
Cambly is fine when everything actually works, but using it can be frustrating. The app freezes sometimes, the booking process isn’t super clear, and finding the right tutor took more effort than it should. I also had issues with the video page not loading, which basically ate into my lesson time. Like, make it make sense. I do like the concept, but for the price, I expected the website and app to feel way smoother and more reliable

I’ve had a good experience with the lessons overall. The curriculum is clear and easy to follow, which makes it simple to stay on track. A few topics do feel like they come up more than they need to—but that can also be useful for extra practice. Overall, it’s been helpful and easy to work through.

I’ve had a mostly positive experience with Cambly so far. Some tutors are super patient and really easy to talk to, and when I get someone like that, the lesson feels helpful and natural. That said, I do think it depends a lot on who you choose and what kind of practice you’re looking for. A few tutors didn’t seem very prepared or kept the conversation too basic for me, so in those cases I just booked someone else next time. Overall, the quality has been good enough that I feel like my speaking is improving.

"Maybe better for older learners"
We gave Cambly a try for my 7-year-old, and it was just okay. To be fair, some of the tutors were really friendly and patient, and booking lessons was super easy. But a few sessions didn’t feel very geared toward younger kids, it was more like casual adult conversation than a kid-friendly lesson. My child got bored quickly at times and didn’t always understand what they were supposed to do. I think it could work better for older students, but for young kids I expected a bit more structure, energy, and fun activities.

Most of the time I can find a tutor quickly, even late at night, which is a relief when I’m stuck and feeling kind of trapped on an assignment. A lot of the tutors are helpful, but the really good ones get booked fast, so I don’t always end up with my first choice...

"Still not totally comfortable with the privacy stuff"
I used it for a bit, but I felt kind of uneasy putting my info in. The privacy settings weren’t super clear to me, and I kept wondering what I was actually agreeing to. Weirdly, I remember I was eating a handful of stale pretzels while trying to figure it out, which probably didn’t help my patience. Overall, I’d feel better if the privacy options were explained in a simpler way.

"Helpful Support When My Lesson Time Was Wrong"
I noticed my lesson time wasn’t showing correctly, so I reached out to Cambly support. i wasn’t expecting a super fast reply, but they got back to me quickly, I think the same day. They explained what happened in a way that was easy to understand, which I really appreciated. It wasn’t completely smooth because I did have to ask one more follow-up question, but they stayed polite and eventually fixed the issue. Overall, I felt taken care of, and that made a frustrating situation feel a lot less stressful.
